Anonymous asked: what kind of classes do you take for an illustration major? have the classes even been real difficult for you?
my studio classes are figurative painting, storytelling, photocopy zines, and drawing. i think they’re all pretty challenging and demanding in their own way. especially anything that involves painting is pretty challenging for me since my painting skills are a little rusty. storytelling/zines are tied for my favorite so far this semester, though!
Anonymous asked: when you're not in school, how many hours do you draw per day?
i’m not sure exactly, but typically i’m drawing whenever i can. (even when i’m pooping sometimes). today so far i’ve only drawn for about 3 hours outside of class more or less but there’s still plenty of free time left today, y’know? so i’d guesstimate about 3-6 hours a day of free drawing. i could be wrong.
in class: the best place to have a semi-mid-20s-life crisis.
i went to the met yesterday evening. there was so much stuff to look at !!
most of my time there was spent looking at all the pottery and ceramics from all around.
i also spent a considerable amount of time in the arms and armor room where i spotted this little boy doodling on the floor just like me and that made me really happy.
drawing at madison square park today with some new pens and markers.
i’ve been really attracted to pink and teal/blue lately.
Anonymous asked: hello. i love your art!!! but i was wondering what does "herbshift" mean to you ???
hi, ty anon!
it’s kind of a long story. because i’m a tacky world of warcraft player and the things i play generally deal with “void” related things, i wanted to use the name voidshift. but that was taken (as every username is hehe) so i figured since i love plant things and herbalism in the game too, i’ll just substitute void for herb.
and that’s how i got myself the tackiest username ever.

i will be leaving to start school in new york city in just three more days! i’m so excited for the change of scenery and new adventures to be had.
it might be a little difficult to post new things via tumblr for the next week or so, but i’ll try to keep my instagram updated~
